I’ve heard people say when a person has a, “green thumb” it means they’re good at growing things.
Really? Then I may be a gardening master.
Every time dad mows the yard and I zoom around and around in the fresh cut grass I end up with green paws. So either I’ve got skills I didn’t even know about, or the whole green thumb thing is over-rated — and shouldn’t your whole hand be green anyway? Who gardens with just their thumb?
Actually… I do occasionally like to chew on weeds, so if I could grow more of them that would be awesome. Oh. Dad says that’s a bad idea. Scratch that.
So… I only went into all that because I was thinking about our trip to Suburban Lawn and Garden yesterday. I hadn’t been there before, but that place is HUGE! It’s like a Home Depot and a Lowes crashed into a forest, and only living stuff survived. (It makes sense, kind of.)

We went there because dad wanted to buy some stuff that will supposedly help the clay soil work better for growing things like grass.
You know about grass right? It’s the stuff that covers the yard and has to be mowed off all the time. Do you see where I’m going with this? If the plan is to cut it all off anyway, why try to make it grow faster and better? Am I missing something?
The good thing is that we also grow flowers. Well, mom grows flowers, and we mostly hardly ever never mow those off.

So we were there to get flowers as well as the “grow-grass-faster-so-we-can-mow-more-often” stuff. Raven came along too, but she stayed with mom. I walked alongside the cart and kept watch in case any of the birds that were flying around tried to mess with our stuff. You can’t tell by the photo, but I was on point, ready to leap into a defensive posture at a moment’s notice.
I did get to meet a few nice people who came by to pet me. That’s always fun.

We also went outside and wandered around through a bunch of see-through buildings full of bigger trees and things, but I didn’t get pictures of that.
We also stopped for ice cream, and dad asked for a pup-cup for Raven and I to share. We’ve done that before, but this time they gave us a pup-cup full of whipped cream! That was new, and I found out that if you exhale fast enough you can blow it all over the place. Dad only let me play that game once.
After we got home we did a bunch more outside stuff. Like flower planting and grass chopping and the like. I heard them say we were going to wash cars, and I thought that sounded great because the last time dad did that, I got to play in the hose spray.
We didn’t end up washing anything, but it did make me go looking for the video from last time that I never posted, so here it is…
Dad says he created a monster by playing with me that way, because now whenever he tries to water flowers or hose off anything, I’m right there ready to chase it down.
Oh yeah, I also heard something about our yard having a sprinkler system… so now I’m super excited to see what happens when they turn that on. Stay tuned!
